PhD Applicants

Applicants should hold a Master's degree in software engineering or a related area.

  • At least one peer-reviewed software engineering publication is expected.
  • Shortlisted candidates complete a video call and a 10-15 minute research presentation.
  • Evaluation includes a paper review and a programming task.

Master's Applicants

Apply to UNLV first, then contact the lab with your application number.

  • Lab-focused applications are typically reviewed in Jan-Feb.
  • Shortlisted candidates are interviewed and complete a paper review and coding task.
  • You can also join UNLV first and identify an advisor after arrival.

What To Include In Your Email

  • Resume and transcripts.
  • A one-page essay in English covering research motivation and interests.
  • A brief note on your favorite programming language or project and why.
  • One strong learning or teaching experience.
  • Evidence that you reviewed the lab's recent work.
